Email monitoring

Cuckoo Camp seed monitor

Checking that our mail reaches the inbox, with clear results from mailboxes we control.

Cuckoo Camp seed monitor is a private email monitoring tool operated by The Cuckoo Camp. It helps us check whether genuine, low-volume test messages sent through our email infrastructure reach the inbox, a category tab or the spam folder, or fail to arrive.

The tool is for authorised operators using mailboxes we own or control. It is not open for public registration.

What the app does

  • Sends a daily digest to designated monitoring mailboxes through our configured sending routes.
  • Where on-demand testing is enabled, lets authorised operators submit example text or HTML, preview the final messages and selected seed mailboxes, explicitly send a test, and compare saved reports.
  • Checks those mailboxes for the test messages and records delivery timing, placement, email authentication results and diagnostic headers.
  • Marks matched messages as read, files them under monitoring labels or folders, and can remove a spam classification after recording the original result.
  • Moves older messages in the monitoring folders to the provider’s trash or deleted-items folder.
  • Reads Google Postmaster Tools statistics for domains the consenting account is authorised to view, and Microsoft SNDS reports for our relay IP addresses.
  • Shows results in a restricted dashboard and sends operational alerts to our administrators.

On-demand tests use our configured sender and delivery routes. Monitoring references and unsubscribe information are added to submitted content. Results describe the tested accounts and message; they do not establish an inbox rate for every customer.

Google account access

The Gmail monitoring account grants permission to read and modify mail so the app can find and organise test messages. This permission also technically permits sending through Gmail, although this implementation sends its test messages through our configured SMTP or Cloudflare routes instead.

A separate Google consent grants read-only access to Postmaster Tools statistics. It does not grant access to that account’s Gmail mailbox.

Only authorise an account you own or are authorised to administer. Gmail access applies to the whole consenting mailbox, so use a dedicated monitoring mailbox.
